The NCMCA Land of the Sky Chapter conducted their annual high school masonry contest for schools in the western part of North Carolina in mid-March at the Haywood County Fairgrounds in Waynesville.  The champion for the second consecutive year is Madison County High School Senior Tristan Cutshall, bottom left, followed by Senior Trevor Simmons, bottom right, of McDowell High School in second place.  Trevor finished in third place in the 2019 contest.  Pictured top, left to right, NCMCA Workforce Development & Training Coordinator Ryan Shaver; third place finisher Mason McPeters and fourth place finisher Ethan Powell both of McDowell High School; Land of the Sky Chapter President Gary Kitchen; fifth place finisher Trynt Hoadley of East Henderson High School; and NCMCA Western Regional Vice President Don Caldwell.   Isaiah Allred of McDowell High School (not pictured) was the winner in the first year division.  Chapter members and local general contractors provided materials, cash contributions for expenses, tool prizes, volunteers, equipment and food for the event.
