Retired Mount Pleasant High School masonry instructor Doug Drye is the fourth North Carolina nominee inducted into the Mason Contractors Association of America “Masonry Hall of Fame,” joining North Carolina nominees Glenn W. Sipe (2012,) Samuel A. McGee (2014,) and Robert L. Merrill (2019.)  Drye’s former student, Ryan Shaver, NCMCA’s Workforce Development & Training Coordinator, introduced him at the February MCAA Convention Closing Banquet at the Las Vegas World of Concrete.  In Doug’s almost twenty-four years at Mount Pleasant, he built a nationally recognized program, holding the record for the most VICA/SkillsUSA secondary national champions.  He helped to guide hundreds of young people into successful careers in masonry and construction.  Pictured left to right, daughter-in-law and son Amanda and Mark Drye; MCAA Chairman Paul Odom; Doug and Thyra Drye; NCMCA President Kent Huntley; and NCMCA’s Ryan Shaver.  Also inducted into the Hall-of-Fame for 2020 were SPEC MIX’s Brian Carney; Paul Hoggatt, Hoggatt Masonry; and Mark Kemp, Superior Masonry Construction.  READ MORE HERE
